On Thursday, multiple locations in Spain and France faced significant wildfire challenges as a result of ongoing extreme heat and dryness in Europe (standaard.be). More than 260,000 people were evacuated in these regions, with the threat continuing to grow (nieuwsblad.be).
The fires have especially impacted southern France, where nearly 300,000 individuals had to leave their homes and 250,000 more were placed under lockdown near Bordeaux due to escalating conditions (ad.nl). In Spain, a tragic loss of life was reported during the wildfires in Valencia region (gva.be). The intense heatwave causing these events continues to affect multiple parts of Europe.
