Indonesia and Thailand have deepened their economic cooperation through trade and investment initiatives, with both nations exploring opportunities to enhance regional collaboration. During a recent visit to Jakarta, Thai Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul proposed exporting rice, meat, and dairy products to Indonesia, while offering to import urea fertilizer from the country in exchange (tirto.id). This mutual trade agreement reflects the growing economic interdependence between the two neighboring nations.

Meanwhile, Indonesian officials have also emphasized the potential for joint development in the food security sector. The Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin) expressed optimism about the prospects of collaboration between Indonesia and Thailand in global food security initiatives (viva.co.id). This aligns with broader regional efforts to strengthen economic ties within ASEAN.

In addition, Indonesia is actively seeking to attract foreign investment, particularly in the automotive industry. Finance Minister Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa has urged global automakers, including Toyota, to relocate production bases from Thailand to Indonesia, citing the country’s readiness to offer incentives and improve investment climate (vidio.com). These efforts highlight Indonesia’s strategic push to become a key manufacturing hub in Southeast Asia.
