PUTRAJAYA — Malaysian political leaders from the Barisan Nasional (BN) and Umno party have vowed not to compromise if the Royal Commission of Inquiry (RCI) into the Tabung Haji (TH) fund finds any wrongdoing, criminal breach of trust, or poor governance, according to BN chairman Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi. The RCI is investigating allegations of mismanagement and corruption within the Haji fund, which provides financial assistance for pilgrimages to Mecca.
Several lawmakers have expressed willingness to discuss the RCI’s findings during a special session of Parliament on August 11. The RCI’s report is expected to highlight potential issues within the administration of the Haji fund, which has been a subject of public scrutiny for years.
Zahid emphasized that the BN and Umno would take firm action if the inquiry reveals any misconduct. This stance reflects ongoing political tensions surrounding the fund’s management and the need for transparency in public institutions. The RCI’s findings could influence future policies and governance practices related to the Haji fund.
