MRCB has secured a RM3.03 billion systems turnkey contract for the Penang Light Rail Transit (LRT) Mutiara Line, leading Hong Leong Investment Bank (HLIB) to increase its financial year 2026 contract win assumption for the company from RM2.0 billion to RM3.5 billion (nst.com.my). The contract marks a significant milestone for MRCB, which is a key player in Malaysia’s infrastructure development sector.
The Penang LRT Mutiara Line is part of a broader effort to enhance public transportation in Penang, a state in northern Malaysia. The project is expected to improve connectivity and reduce traffic congestion in the region. MRCB’s involvement in the project underscores its growing role in major infrastructure projects across the country.
HLIB’s revised forecast reflects confidence in MRCB’s ability to deliver large-scale projects on time and within budget. The bank’s adjustment highlights the potential for increased revenue and profitability for MRCB in the coming years. The project is anticipated to be completed in phases, with the first phase likely to be operational by 2027.
