A fire broke out on a difficult-to-reach terrain above Srednjim Vrhom in the area of Kranjska Gora. The blaze, which covered an area of approximately four hectares, was reported to authorities around 3:30 AM local time, according to police sources (24ur.com). Initial efforts to extinguish the fire were hindered by the challenging access to the site.
Heavy rain during the night helped reduce the size of the fire, allowing firefighters to make progress. The Kranjskogorski mayor, Henrika Zupan, confirmed that most of the fire had been put out with the help of the rain (sta.si). However, three smaller hotspots remained, requiring further intervention.
Firefighters, supported by air tankers and a military helicopter, continued their efforts to fully extinguish the blaze. The military helicopter was used to draw water from Jasna Lake, while air tankers provided additional support. The cause of the fire is suspected to be a gunshot, according to police (24ur.com).
