Tropical Depression Luis weakened into a low-pressure area (LPA) as of 8 p.m. Monday, according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa). The state weather bureau confirmed the weakening occurred as the storm system moved further inland.
Luis had previously made landfall over Maconacon, Isabela, earlier in the day. The system is now moving away from the main islands and is no longer considered a tropical depression. Pagasa noted that the disturbance remains within the Philippine area of responsibility (PAR), but its intensity has significantly decreased.
