Former Investigating Directorate Against Corruption (Idac) head Advocate Andrea Johnson testified before the Madlanga Commission, admitting to a misuse of legal processes in the arrests of Crime Intelligence head Lieutenant-General Dumisani Khumalo and others (iol.co.za). During the same session, Justice Mbuyiseli Madlanga questioned Johnson about the decision to charge suspended National Police Commissioner General Fannie Masemola alongside Vusimuzi “Cat” Matlala in the R360 million Medicare24 tender case. Madlanga suggested the move may have unfairly damaged Masemola’s reputation and exceeded the anti-corruption unit’s legal mandate (mg.co.za).
