CANAL+ has reported a significant increase in revenue and earnings for the first half of the year, driven by the integration of Africa’s leading video entertainment platform, MultiChoice. The global media and entertainment company saw its group revenue rise by 40% to €4.29 million (approximately R82 million) in the six months ending June, primarily due to the consolidation of MultiChoice into its financial results. Adjusted earnings before interest and tax (EBIT) before exceptional items also grew by 68% to €433 million, reflecting the strategic move to expand its footprint in the African market (sundayworld.co.za).

The acquisition of MultiChoice, which operates across multiple African countries, marks a key step in CANAL+’s strategy to strengthen its presence in the region. This expansion comes as the company continues to invest in digital and pay-TV services, aiming to capitalize on growing demand for streaming and on-demand content. The integration of MultiChoice into CANAL+’s operations is expected to enhance its competitive position in the African media landscape, offering a broader range of services to its subscribers.
