Naga Munchetty has announced her departure from BBC Breakfast after 17 years, marking the end of her long tenure on the popular morning show. The presenter, who first joined the programme as a stand-in in 2009, will transition to BBC Radio 5 Live, where she will lead its flagship morning programme from January 2027 (news.stv.tv).
Munchetty shared her decision on BBC Radio 5 Live, expressing excitement about the new role. She described the move as “change is as good as a rest,” adding a light-hearted tone to the announcement (independent.co.uk). The shift comes amid a significant shake-up on BBC Breakfast, with insiders commenting on the turmoil surrounding her departure (mirror.co.uk).
The BBC had previously been investigating claims of bullying and inappropriate remarks linked to Munchetty’s conduct. However, the probe has now been quietly closed, according to recent reports (thesun.co.uk). Despite the controversy, Munchetty has not commented further on the allegations, focusing instead on her future plans.
