Norway's late King Harald V was laid to rest in Oslo after a solemn funeral procession. The ceremony, attended by world leaders and dignitaries, marked the end of the reign of the country's longest-serving monarch. King Harald, who ruled for 58 years, was honored with a state funeral at Akershus Fortress, a historic site in the capital.
The event took place amid heightened security, following reports that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky's plane was nearly targeted by a drone on its way to Oslo. Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Store confirmed the incident, describing it as a "targeted Russian attack" on the aircraft. Despite the threat, Zelensky arrived in Norway for the funeral, which also saw participation from global leaders, including Prince William of England and representatives from Ireland.
The funeral included traditional elements, such as the Crown and Sword placed on the coffin, symbols with a history spanning over two centuries. The procession drew large crowds, reflecting the deep respect for the late king. As the coffin was moved to its final resting place, the event underscored the enduring ties between Norway and the international community.
