European Central Bank President Christine Lagarde warned that Europe cannot afford to miss the artificial intelligence revolution, as the continent’s economic growth model faces increasing pressure. Speaking in Frankfurt, Lagarde highlighted the need for a unified market to compete globally in AI development.

Fragmented markets and rising global challenges are undermining Europe’s traditional growth model, according to Lagarde. She emphasized that the continent must leverage its unique market and potential for technological development.

Lagarde pointed to global trade restrictions, high energy costs, and growing geopolitical risks as factors weakening Europe’s economic model. She urged leaders to address market fragmentation and ensure the region remains competitive in AI innovation.

The ECB president stressed that Europe’s ability to adapt to the AI revolution is critical for maintaining its economic strength in a rapidly changing global landscape.
