A teacher in Nepal saved over 1,600 children during the deadly floods, according to local reports. The teacher, working at a school in the path of the floodwaters along the Trishuli river, managed to evacuate all students and most staff members. The floods, which began on Wednesday, have caused widespread destruction in the region, with over 623 confirmed deaths and 2,500 people still missing. Rescue teams are focusing on areas affected by the Trishuli and Bhotekoshi rivers, where many workers are trapped.
Authorities estimate that more than 900 workers are still missing, with some believed to be alive and trapped in the tunnels of hydroelectric projects. Local teams are working to open access to these areas, with efforts concentrated on the Trishuli 3A and 3B sites.
Search operations continue for the missing, including 517 foreigners, among them three Italians. The situation remains critical, with ongoing efforts to locate and rescue those in danger.
