A Drogheda student is embarking on an ambitious 1,400km cycling journey across Europe to raise funds for Parkinson’s Ireland and The Alzheimer Society of Ireland. The challenge, which will take the cyclist from Munich to his home in Ireland, aims to support charities that provide care and resources for those affected by neurodegenerative diseases.
The student, whose identity has not been disclosed, has been preparing for the long-distance ride, which will test both physical and mental endurance. The route will cover multiple countries, with the cyclist planning to stop at key locations to raise awareness and collect donations. The goal is to secure significant financial support for the charities, which rely heavily on fundraising efforts to continue their vital work.
The initiative reflects a growing trend of individuals using personal challenges to support causes they care about. By combining physical activity with charitable fundraising, the student hopes to inspire others to take action. The journey is expected to conclude in late summer, with the final destination being Drogheda, where the cyclist will share the results of the campaign.
