The Macardles Historical Society has introduced a new membership program called “Macardles Friends” to support the preservation of Dundalk’s brewing heritage. The initiative, launched by the society, invites the public to contribute financially to the upkeep of the town’s historical brewing archives. The program aims to ensure the continued preservation of the legacy of the former Macardle Moore brewery, a key part of Dundalk’s industrial history.
The society, which manages the archive of the defunct brewery, hopes the membership scheme will generate the necessary funds to maintain and expand its collection. The initiative reflects growing interest in local history and the importance of preserving industrial heritage. Members will gain access to exclusive resources and events, fostering a deeper connection between the community and Dundalk’s past.
The move comes as part of broader efforts to highlight the town’s historical significance. By engaging the public directly, the Macardles Historical Society aims to create a sustainable model for preserving cultural and industrial heritage. The program underscores the role of local institutions in safeguarding historical assets for future generations.
