Kenya Power has announced the completion of a Sh765 million project to build new substations in Kilifi and Kwale counties. The initiative aims to address growing electricity demand and reduce pressure on the existing power network. The new substations are expected to enhance the reliability and quality of power supply in the region.
The project includes the construction of the Bomani 132/33kV substation in Kilifi County, which is nearing completion. This substation alone cost Ksh 455 million and will significantly contribute to the region’s power capacity. Kenya Power stated that the new infrastructure will help meet rising demand and ensure a more stable electricity supply for residents and businesses.
The investment comes as part of broader efforts to modernize Kenya’s power grid and support economic development in coastal areas. With the new substations operational, the company expects to reduce outages and improve service delivery in the two counties. The project underscores Kenya Power’s commitment to expanding infrastructure to meet increasing energy needs.
