The Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP) in Kenya has urged for accurate and coordinated communication as the justice sector prepares for the 2027 General Election. The call comes amid efforts to ensure transparency and public trust ahead of the polls.
A two-day capacity-building and wellness programme, organized by International Justice Mission (IJM) Kenya, brought together communication officers from criminal justice institutions and media practitioners. The event aimed to enhance collaboration between the justice sector and media to combat misinformation.
Participants discussed strategies to promote factual reporting and reduce the spread of false information during the election period. The ODPP emphasized the importance of clear messaging to uphold the integrity of the electoral process.
The initiative reflects growing concerns about the role of media in shaping public perception during politically sensitive times. As preparations continue, officials stress the need for unity and accuracy in all communications.
