KRA has recorded a record customs revenue of Sh988.78 billion for the fiscal year, surpassing its target of Sh980.79 billion for the fifth consecutive year. The achievement marks a performance rate of 100.8 per cent, reflecting strong compliance and enforcement efforts.
The Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) continues to demonstrate consistent growth in customs revenue, driven by increased imports and improved tax collection mechanisms. This year’s figures highlight the agency’s ability to meet and exceed annual targets, reinforcing its role as a key revenue generator for the government.
The surplus over the target indicates a steady improvement in the efficiency of customs operations. KRA officials have attributed the success to enhanced digital systems and stricter enforcement policies. These measures have helped reduce evasion and improve transparency in trade activities.
The record revenue is expected to contribute significantly to the national budget, supporting public services and infrastructure development. KRA remains focused on maintaining this momentum through continued reforms and technological upgrades.
