The National Assembly Public Investments Committee on Governance and Education has raised concerns over financial mismanagement in national schools, highlighting issues such as textbook oversupply and unauthorized bank loans. Chaired by Luanda MP Dick Maungu, the committee questioned how some schools received hundreds of textbooks beyond their needs while others faced shortages.
The committee also pointed to long-standing fee arrears, delayed capitation payments, and weaknesses in procurement practices. These issues have created financial imbalances within the education system. The findings were shared during a meeting on Thursday, September 3, 2026, as the committee examined the broader challenges affecting school finances.
The report underscores the need for improved oversight and transparency in how educational resources are allocated. The committee is expected to recommend measures to address these discrepancies and ensure fair distribution of educational materials. The situation has sparked calls for urgent reform in school financial management.
