Ombudsman Jesus Crispin Remulla criticized the flood control projects in Cebu, stating that the P60-billion worth of initiatives should have prevented the recent flooding. The projects, which were implemented across the province, were the subject of an inspection by Remulla and his team. During the visit, they assessed the Mananga River flood control project in Barangay Lawaan II, Talisay City. Remulla emphasized that the infrastructure should have mitigated the impact of the floods, which affected multiple areas in Cebu. The inspection followed reports of severe flooding that disrupted daily life and caused damage to properties. The Ombudsman’s office is now reviewing the effectiveness of the projects to determine if they met their intended goals.
