Saudi Arabia’s rail network recorded over 83 million passenger trips in the first half of 2026, marking a 16 percent increase compared to the same period in 2025, according to data from the Transport General Authority, as reported by the Saudi Press Agency. In the first quarter of 2026, rail services transported more than 45 million passengers, up from 35 million in the same period the previous year. The second quarter saw over 38 million passengers, compared to 36.5 million in 2025. These figures highlight a steady rise in rail usage, driven by improved connectivity and government investment in public transport.
The increase in passenger numbers underscores Saudi Arabia’s efforts to reduce reliance on private vehicles and promote sustainable mobility.
