The impeachment trial of Vice President Sara Duterte, originally scheduled for Wednesday, has been postponed again due to ongoing heavy rains linked to the Southwest Monsoon. The decision came after the presiding officer instructed the cancellation, citing the expected continued rainfall.
The postponement follows previous delays, with officials citing weather conditions as the primary reason. The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) confirmed the development of Tropical Depression Neneng, which is contributing to the heavy rains across the country.
Neneng is currently located 1,035 kilometers east of the Extreme Northern Philippines, according to Pagasa. The storm is expected to bring persistent rains, affecting the schedule of public events, including the impeachment proceedings.
The trial, which has faced multiple postponements, remains a key political event. The exact new date has not yet been announced.
