Iraq is sending a high-level security delegation to Saudi Arabia, according to Al Jazeera, as US President Donald Trump reiterated his claim that the situation with Iran is “going fine” and that US forces are in “total control” of the Strait of Hormuz.
Iran has rejected Trump’s assertion, stating that the strategic waterway will remain closed until the US accepts its demands and changes its “behaviour.” Mohsen Rezaie, head of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council, reportedly told China’s ambassador that the US must alter its actions.
The US navy has been increasing its presence in the region, with Trump describing the naval blockade as a “wall of steel.” However, Iran continues to challenge the US’s control, emphasizing its right to safeguard its interests.
The situation remains tense, with both sides accusing each other of escalating hostilities. The Strait of Hormuz remains a critical point of contention, with implications for global oil supplies and regional stability.
