President Cyril Ramaphosa emphasized the need for increased manufacturing and value addition within the BRICS group during the 18th BRICS Leaders’ Summit in New Delhi. The summit, held on Saturday, brought together leaders from Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa to discuss trade, investment, and global conflicts. Discussions highlighted the bloc’s growing role in shaping international economic policies.

The summit also saw a thaw in India-China relations, with Chinese leader Xi Jinping receiving a red carpet welcome. This gesture symbolized improved diplomatic ties between the two nations. Meanwhile, leaders from member states explored ways to use technology to enhance trade networks and build more resilient economic systems.

A joint declaration is expected to be signed, condemning global tensions and tariffs that have disrupted international trade. The BRICS Business Forum, held earlier in the week, focused on strengthening economic connections through digital innovation and sustainable growth strategies. The summit underscores the bloc’s ambition to influence global economic governance.
