The Dangote Group has expressed strong intent to list its petroleum refinery in South Africa following its initial public offering (IPO) in Nigeria, according to the Johannesburg Stock Exchange (JSE). The JSE confirmed the company’s plans to pursue a South Africa listing as part of its broader expansion strategy (sundayworld.co.za).
The Nigerian government has also taken steps to facilitate the return of citizens living abroad, including those in South Africa. The Nigerian High Commission in Pretoria launched an online portal for Nigerians seeking to repatriate to the country. This initiative is part of ongoing efforts to encourage voluntary returns, with the portal now open for registration (vanguardngr.com).
These developments highlight the growing economic ties between Nigeria and South Africa, with both countries supporting initiatives that promote investment and repatriation. The Dangote Group’s potential listing in South Africa could further strengthen this relationship, offering new opportunities for Nigerian investors and businesses.
