The planned rally by the Linda Mwananchi movement in Homa Bay has sparked concerns over security, with local leaders warning of potential disruptions. Movement spokesperson Caroli Omondi claimed that efforts are being made to prevent supporters from entering the town, raising fears of possible interference with the event.
In response, the Interior Ministry has reassured the public that authorities are working to ensure peace during the gathering. Interior PS Raymond Omolo emphasized the importance of maintaining order and cautioned politicians against using youth for unrest ahead of the rally.
Governor James Orengo of Siaya has reiterated the movement’s commitment to holding the event, despite the reported threats. Speaking at a press briefing in Kisumu, Orengo stated that the Linda Mwananchi group had already informed police about their plans.
Authorities continue to monitor the situation as the rally approaches, balancing the need for public safety with the right to peaceful assembly.
