A man and a woman appeared at the Sessions Court in Klang today, charged with animal cruelty following the death of a dog named Rocky. The pair allegedly strangled the male dog with a looped rope last month, according to authorities. The case was presented as a criminal matter under the Animal Welfare Act.
The prosecution claimed the defendants intentionally caused the dog’s death through suffocation. The court heard that Rocky was found unconscious after the incident, and later pronounced dead. No prior arrests or convictions were mentioned in the case.
The defendants did not immediately comment on the charges. The case is expected to proceed to trial, with the court considering whether to grant bail. Legal representatives for both parties were present during the proceedings.
The incident has sparked public concern over animal welfare in the region. Local animal protection groups have called for stricter enforcement of anti-cruelty laws.
