Casio has announced the development of a high-end G-Shock model featuring a sapphire case, marking its 30th anniversary. The watch, limited to just 20 units worldwide, is expected to be priced at around 10 million yen, equivalent to approximately $65,000. This model is anticipated to surpass the value of the 2019 "Gold Square" edition, previously considered the most expensive G-Shock ever produced.
The collaboration with Tokyo-based streetwear brand BlackEyePatch continues to shape the G-Shock line, with the latest model showcasing a bold gold-and-black design. While the sapphire-encased version remains exclusive and unlisted, the latest collaboration with BlackEyePatch has already seen the release of the G-Shock DW-5600BEP-9 in the UK. This model includes features such as a 200-meter water resistance, stopwatch, and LED Super Illuminator.
The sapphire-encased model represents a significant shift in Casio's approach to luxury watchmaking, blending durability with high-end materials. Details on availability and release date remain pending, but the limited edition underscores Casio's ongoing commitment to innovation and exclusivity in the watch industry.
