Kenyan political figures have urged President William Ruto to conduct an independent evaluation of the Social Health Authority (SHA), following concerns over its effectiveness. Former Agriculture Cabinet Secretary Mithika Linturi, now aligned with the Democracy for Citizens Party, advised Ruto to go beyond the positive narrative presented at the Kenya Health Summit 2026. Linturi emphasized the need for a realistic assessment of SHA's shortcomings.

Geoffrey Mosiria, a government defender, echoed similar sentiments, urging Ruto to seek the truth about SHA's operations. Mosiria highlighted issues such as irregular cash payments, system failures, and limited healthcare access. Both officials called for transparency and accountability in the health sector.

The calls for scrutiny come amid growing public concern over the efficiency of SHA, which manages healthcare services across Kenya. While officials acknowledge past achievements, they stress the need for a more accurate evaluation of the authority's current performance. The debate reflects broader challenges in ensuring effective public service delivery.
