Kenya is seeking financial support from the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) to fund key infrastructure projects, including those related to the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) and the Rironi-Mau Summit. The government is diversifying its sources of development funding amid growing infrastructure needs.
Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi recently met with AIIB President Zou Jiayi to discuss potential collaboration. The talks focused on how the AIIB can contribute to Kenya’s development goals. The government is looking to leverage international financial institutions to support large-scale projects.
The move comes as Kenya continues to prioritize infrastructure expansion to boost economic growth. The AIIB has been active in funding development projects across Africa, and Kenya hopes to benefit from its expertise and resources. The discussions are expected to lead to concrete funding agreements in the coming months.
