The incident occurred in the foothills of Mount Ololokwe, according to Kenyan officials. Among the victims was José Suárez, president and general manager of multiple Telemundo-owned stations.

The crash, which involved a chopper, resulted in the deaths of seven individuals, all identified as tourists. Michele Sensi Contugi, an Ecuadorian intelligence chief, was also among the casualties. The Kenyan pilot, whose name has not been disclosed, was the only local fatality.
