NDLEA intercepts 98 cocaine wraps in Lagos airport
Italian-based businessman was caught at Enugu airport with 98 wraps of cocaine, according to Nigerian authorities. The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) confirmed the arrest during a routine check, revealing the illicit cargo hidden in the traveler’s belongings. The operation led to nationwide raids in Lagos, Oyo, and Edo states, targeting drug syndicates involved in trafficking.
The agency also thwarted another attempt to smuggle 1.2 kilograms of cocaine to Saudi Arabia, concealed in 25 phone chargers. The packages were discovered at a courier firm in Lagos, highlighting the use of modern methods by traffickers. The NDLEA emphasized the collaboration between local and international law enforcement to combat the drug trade.
Further investigations revealed the cocaine had been packed into the chargers before being intercepted. The arrests underscore the ongoing efforts to disrupt drug networks operating across borders.
