President Bola Tinubu and 16 other presidential candidates signed the 2027 National Peace Accord on Tuesday, pledging to address key national issues. The agreement comes as Tinubu continues to push for health reforms, emphasizing the role of diaspora doctors in improving the country’s medical system.

Tinubu also launched a community food bank and commissioned new infrastructure projects, including the PMB estate and Gateway Medical Centre. These initiatives highlight his focus on both social welfare and economic development. Meanwhile, former Minister Oby Ezekwesili has urged the government to review a £746 million ports financing deal with the UK, citing the need for greater transparency.

The president has also praised his economic team and the Nigerian Stock Exchange for stabilizing the economy. He stressed the importance of private sector involvement in job creation and economic growth. However, former President Goodluck Jonathan has raised concerns about the use of security forces during elections, warning against practices that could undermine Nigeria’s democracy.

As political tensions persist, the 2027 Peace Accord represents a significant step toward national unity, though challenges remain in balancing development with democratic integrity.
