Aboitiz Foundation and GCash have launched a joint initiative to plant one million trees in Balamban, Cebu, covering 1,200 hectares of land. The project aims to restore degraded areas and promote environmental sustainability. The partnership highlights efforts to address ecological challenges through large-scale reforestation.
The initiative is part of a broader strategy to support community development and environmental conservation. Local authorities and environmental groups have expressed support for the project, emphasizing its potential to improve local ecosystems and provide long-term benefits.
In addition to the tree-planting effort, the Aboitiz Foundation has also focused on digital skills development. Through the AIDA Plus program, 250 graduates in Cebu have received training in virtual assistance and digital work, enhancing their employability in the tech sector.
These initiatives reflect the foundation’s commitment to both environmental and social development in the region.
