Mindanao’s small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) are gaining regional visibility as the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) connects local businesses with Asean and BIMP-EAGA markets. The initiative, part of the Sabah International Expo 2026 in Kota Kinabalu, aims to boost trade opportunities for Mindanao’s growing business sector.
The event highlights Mindanao’s strategic role in regional economic networks, particularly within the Brunei Indonesia Malaysia Philippines (BIMP-EAGA) economic zone. DTI officials emphasized the importance of expanding market access for local producers, especially in agriculture, manufacturing, and services.
Participants from Mindanao showcased products ranging from food items to handicrafts, targeting both regional and international buyers. The expo provides a platform for local businesses to explore partnerships and export potential.
The initiative reflects ongoing efforts to integrate Mindanao more deeply into regional trade frameworks, supporting economic growth and diversification.
