The National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP) has warned of possible rotational power outages, known as Manual Load Dropping (MLD), across several regions in Visayas due to a critical electricity supply shortage. In response, the Department of Energy (DOE) has announced plans to deploy diesel power barges and additional battery storage systems to stabilize the grid and ensure a brownout-free Christmas for residents in Visayas and Mindanao. Officials emphasized the urgency of the situation, stating that efforts are being made to resolve the issue before the end of the year.
Despite these measures, the energy crisis remains a pressing concern. With limited generation capacity and increased consumption, the risk of power interruptions persists. The DOE is working closely with local authorities to implement solutions that will minimize the impact on households and businesses.
