Saudi Arabia’s Food and Drug Authority (SFDA) has issued a warning about three ginseng-flavored coffee and chocolate products after detecting the presence of nortadalafil, a banned substance. The products in question are Parsa Coffee (Coffee with Ginseng), Parsa Choco (Dark Chocolate with Ginseng), and Bintan SKY (Coffee with Ginseng). All are sold in 100-gram sachets, and the warning applies to all batches, according to the Saudi Press Agency (SPA). The SFDA urged consumers to avoid these products due to the health risks associated with the prohibited substance.
The discovery came after laboratory tests conducted by the authority. Nortadalafil is known to have adverse effects and is not approved for use in food products. The SFDA emphasized that the products may have been contaminated during manufacturing or packaging. No official statement has been released regarding the source of the contamination or the steps being taken to recall the products.
Consumers are advised to check for the products in their possession and refrain from using them. The SFDA has not yet announced any plans for a formal recall or further investigation into the matter. The warning highlights ongoing concerns about food safety and regulatory oversight in the kingdom.
