Femi Kuti, Afrobeat musician and social critic, has argued that Nigeria’s core problem lies in institutional corruption, not President Bola Tinubu. In an interview, Kuti criticized the judiciary and elite networks, suggesting that systemic issues are to blame for the country’s ongoing challenges. He also stated that Nigerians who allowed Tinubu to contest the 2023 election share responsibility for his presidency.
Tinubu, meanwhile, has focused on economic and health reforms. He recently met with leaders of the Nigeria Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas Workers, emphasizing the need for progress in key sectors. Additionally, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has invited Tinubu to the 2026 BRICS summit in India, highlighting Nigeria’s growing international influence.
Despite these efforts, political tensions persist. Opposition figures, including PDP chieftain Ehilebo, have questioned Tinubu’s administration over the state of healthcare. Meanwhile, a social media claim about Nigerian bishops reporting Tinubu to the Pope has been debunked as a false narrative.
The debate over responsibility continues, with critics pointing to deep-rooted systemic issues rather than individual leaders.
