The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) has warned that the southwest monsoon, or habagat, will bring heavy rains over Luzon and the Visayas until Saturday, September 5. The weather bureau noted that Occidental Mindoro could see up to 200 millimeters of rainfall on Friday and Saturday. The ongoing rains are part of the seasonal weather pattern, which typically brings frequent precipitation to the region. Local authorities are advising residents to prepare for potential flooding and travel disruptions. The weather service has not issued any immediate danger alerts but recommends staying updated with local forecasts. The rains are expected to ease slightly later in the week as the monsoon system moves further south.
