The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has called for an end to alleged electoral manipulation and voter intimidation in Nigeria ahead of the 2027 general elections. Senator David Mark, the party’s National Chairman, made the demand in Abuja during a meeting with a delegation from the International Republican Institute. The ADC is urging authorities to ensure a fair and transparent electoral process, emphasizing the need for accountability in the political landscape.
Meanwhile, the International Budget Partnership (IBP) Nigeria is set to examine how effectively the country is implementing its budget. The organization will focus on whether approved funds are being used to deliver services to citizens. Olayinka Babalola, the Country Director of IBP Nigeria, announced this during a news conference in Abuja ahead of the PULSE Summit 2026, which will take place on September 3. The summit aims to assess the connection between public spending and national development.
The Nigerian presidency has also emphasized the importance of women’s participation in the country’s economic growth. Officials warned that achieving a $1 trillion economy requires full inclusion of women, framing gender equality as a strategic move rather than a charitable act. These calls for reform and inclusion reflect ongoing efforts to address systemic challenges in Nigeria’s political and economic frameworks.
