A community-run seed bank in eastern Zimbabwe is supporting smallholder farmers in preserving traditional crop varieties, helping them adapt to climate change and improve food security. The initiative, known as the Mutiusinazita Seed Bank, is playing a key role in maintaining agricultural biodiversity and ensuring resilience against environmental challenges. Farmers are using the seed bank to access a wide range of locally adapted seeds, which are better suited to the region’s changing climate conditions. This grassroots effort is being recognized for its contribution to sustainable farming practices and long-term food security in the area.
