Former Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan was returned to Adiala Jail after a medical examination at a government hospital in Islamabad, officials confirmed Friday. The move followed a Supreme Court order that mandated his transfer to a private facility for specialist care. However, authorities instead took him to a state-run hospital, prompting accusations from his family and political allies that the order was violated.

Khan’s sister and personal physician reported that he was taken to a government hospital overnight, while his doctor waited at the private facility designated by the court. Despite this, Khan was declared fit for release and returned to custody. Defence Minister Khawaja Asif later stated that Khan had recovered from an eye issue and there was no serious health concern.

The situation has intensified tensions between Khan’s party and the government, with claims of legal violations. While some reports suggest Khan was cleared for release, others indicate he remains under medical observation. The court’s order remains in effect, and the legal battle over his treatment continues.

Authorities have not yet issued a formal statement on the matter, leaving the legality of the hospital transfer under scrutiny. The case highlights ongoing challenges in the administration of justice and the treatment of high-profile political figures in Pakistan.
