The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has arraigned two men in Lagos over allegations of selling access to a database for $15,000. The men were brought before the Federal High Court in Lagos, marking another step in the commission’s ongoing efforts to combat financial crimes.
This case follows similar actions by the EFCC in other parts of the country, including the arraignment of three individuals in Ibadan over a $30 million visa fraud scheme. The Ibadan case involved forgery and false pretenses related to Canadian visa and travel arrangements.
President Bola Tinubu has directed that funds recovered by the EFCC be used to support student loan programs, a policy that has received commendation from various stakeholders. The Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) has praised the president for this directive, highlighting the potential benefits for students and national development.
The EFCC continues to focus on high-profile cases, aiming to deter financial misconduct and restore public trust. The recent arraignments underscore the commission’s commitment to enforcing anti-corruption measures across different sectors.
