Thirty-three individuals were arrested during 21 separate anti-illegal fishing operations carried out by the Police Regional Office in Western Visayas (PRO 6). The raids targeted unauthorized fishing activities in the region, which are often conducted using illegal methods that harm marine ecosystems.

The police emphasized that these operations are part of ongoing efforts to enforce fishing regulations and protect local fisheries. Authorities said the arrests included both local residents and individuals from other regions who were involved in illegal fishing.

The confiscated equipment included illegal fishing gear and vessels used in unlicensed operations. Officials noted that the seizures will be processed for legal action. The operations were conducted in coordination with environmental agencies to ensure compliance with national and international fishing laws.

The Police Regional Office has stated that further operations are planned to continue cracking down on illegal fishing in the area.
