The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has proposed a ₱2.024 billion budget for flood control projects along the Agusan River and major Davao river basins for 2027. The initiative aims to enhance infrastructure to mitigate flood risks during the rainy season. The plan includes the construction and improvement of drainage systems, embankments, and retention basins.

The funding will support the implementation of critical infrastructure projects in flood-prone areas. Officials emphasized the need for timely completion to ensure communities are better protected. The DPWH has also called for collaboration with local governments to identify priority sites for intervention.

The proposed budget reflects the government’s commitment to disaster risk reduction. It follows recent assessments highlighting the vulnerability of the region to seasonal flooding. The projects are expected to benefit thousands of residents in the affected areas.

The DPWH will soon finalize the allocation details and begin consultations with stakeholders. The initiative is part of broader efforts to improve resilience against climate-related challenges.
