A shootout between police and suspected extremists occurred in Maguindanao del Sur on Friday, September 11, during the implementation of an election gun ban. Two individuals linked to the Moro Islamic Liberation Front were injured in the incident, according to police authorities. The confrontation took place in Shariff Aguak, within the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region. Capt. Steffi Salanguit, representing the police in the region, confirmed the details of the event.
Meanwhile, election preparations continued as voting machines were delivered to centers in the same area. Teachers were appointed as electoral board members for the first parliamentary election in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao. The automated counting machines, ballot boxes, and kits were received at the Comelec office in Shariff Aguak.
