Nigerian authorities have intercepted two major shipments of synthetic cannabis, known as "Colorado," bound for the United Kingdom, according to the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA). The intercepted drugs weighed 44.45kg and were found in consolidated cargo. Additional operations led to the recovery of over 2.3 tonnes of illicit drugs across various states.
In separate raids, NDLEA operatives discovered illicit substances concealed within music speakers at motor parks in Lagos. At least seven suspects are linked to these operations. The agency also recovered three packs of Colorado from a music speaker at Maza Maza, Lagos.
The seizures highlight ongoing efforts to combat drug trafficking in Nigeria. The NDLEA continues to conduct raids and operations to dismantle smuggling networks. These actions underscore the challenges faced by authorities in intercepting illegal substances.
The intercepted drugs and associated suspects are currently under investigation. The NDLEA has not provided further details on the next steps in these cases.
