A nearby family took him in and provided care before the Standard Group team located him.

The Kenya Human Rights Commission (KHRC) has condemned the abduction, calling it unlawful and brutal. The organization has demanded the immediate arrest and prosecution of those responsible. KHRC emphasized the need for accountability, highlighting the risks faced by journalists in the region.

Standard Group CEO Chacha Mwita provided details of the events leading to Kiprotich’s rescue. The ordeal, described as harrowing, underscores ongoing challenges for media professionals.
