Penang has launched a new campaign aimed at boosting domestic tourism, encouraging Malaysians to rediscover the state and sustain visitor arrivals through the year-end. The initiative, titled “Fall in Love with Penang,” was officially announced in George Town, the state’s capital. The campaign seeks to highlight Penang’s attractions and cultural heritage, offering locals a compelling reason to visit and support the local economy.
The move comes as the state aims to offset the usual seasonal dip in tourist numbers, particularly during the off-peak months. By focusing on domestic visitors, Penang hopes to diversify its tourism revenue and reduce reliance on international travelers. Officials emphasized that the campaign will feature a range of activities and promotions designed to appeal to Malaysian tourists.
The initiative is part of broader efforts to position Penang as a year-round destination. Local authorities have also pledged to enhance infrastructure and improve visitor experiences to ensure sustained interest in the state’s offerings.
