President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Vice President Kashim Shettima will lead the All Progressives Congress (APC) 2027 presidential campaign council, according to recent announcements. Former governor of Yobe State, Yilwatda, has been appointed as director general of the council. The leadership structure marks a key step in the party’s preparations for the upcoming elections.
The APC is also seeking broader political alliances, with Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, forecasting a larger cross-party coalition supporting Tinubu in 2027. Wike linked this development to Governor-elect Ademola Adeleke’s recent visit to Abuja.
Adeleke’s campaign team has dismissed rumors that he is planning to defect from his party to the APC following his meeting with Tinubu. They described the visit as a customary gesture in Nigerian political culture, common after off-cycle elections.
The APC continues to consolidate its position ahead of the 2027 elections, with internal coordination and external alliances playing key roles in its strategy.
