President Bola Tinubu has strengthened his 2027 presidential campaign by appointing Senator Abdul’aziz Yari as Director-General of his campaign. The move comes as allies like Nyesom Wike urge stakeholders to mobilize support at the grassroots level. Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, has called on stakeholders to ensure Tinubu’s victory by delivering strong local support.
Yari’s appointment was welcomed by his constituency office, which praised Tinubu for recognizing his leadership in the campaign. Meanwhile, Tinubu has also extended birthday greetings to Victoria Gowon, wife of former Head of State Yakubu Gowon, highlighting diplomatic gestures. These actions underscore Tinubu’s efforts to build alliances and maintain public engagement ahead of the 2027 elections.
Opposition voices, however, remain critical. Donald Duke of the Peoples Redemption Party has accused Tinubu’s administration of mismanaging economic policies, including the fuel subsidy regime. Despite these challenges, Tinubu’s campaign continues to focus on consolidating support through key appointments and public outreach.
Tinubu’s team is also working to highlight achievements, with Wike planning to publish details of projects from past administrations and those under his leadership. These efforts aim to reinforce Tinubu’s legacy and readiness for re-election.
